Organically Grown Produce

During the growing season, our garden produces more food than we can eat ourselves and we often have extra produce available.

During the summer we typically have heirloom tomatoes, okra, peppers, onions, and cucumbers. In late summer and early autumn, pumpkins and butternut squash. All grown in our no-till, organically managed garden.

Our Katahdin Lamb

Our sheep live on pasture and eat forage year round. Katahdin meat is mild, mellow, and extremely versatile.

Katahdin Sheep

Our flock of registered Katahdin sheep are well-suited to living their lives on pasture and are rotationally grazed to keep them healthy and improve the health of our pastures.

The ewes that make up our foundation flock were selected for their hardiness, parasite resistance, and ability to thrive and raise big healthy lambs naturally on pasture. By selecting rams with characteristics we'd like to see more of, we improve our flock traits year after year.

Registered Katahdin Rams

While our sheep are bred primarily for meat production, we hold back any ram lambs with exceptional structure, growth rate, parasite resistance and demeanors to offer as registered breeding stock.

Phenomenal Meat

Some folks are skeptical about lamb because they've had a bad experience with gamey lamb in the past. Katahdin meat is mild, mellow, and extremely versatile. It's flavorful enough to hold up to assertive sauces while also being a great go-to for many meals.

Because our lamb is grass fed, pastured, and rotationally grazed, you can be confident that not only is it healthier for you, it's also healthier for the planet. We have options for custom-processed whole lambs as well as individual cuts. Lambs are processed in December, but cuts are available year round.

What is Rotational Grazing?

Rotational grazing means giving animals access to limited portions of a larger pasture for a set time, then moving them to a new portion. During the grazing season, our sheep get moved to new paddocks every few days to a week depending on available forage.

In the first day or so, they eat their favorites. Over the next few days, they work through less desirable plants and trample down taller growth. This spreads their impact evenly across all plants — if they only ate their favorites and waited for regrowth, they'd wipe out the tastiest forage.

The trampling process encourages new growth, shades the soil, and increases organic matter, all of which help the soil hold more water and nutrients. This improves resilience during drought and fertilizes the pasture naturally. Constant movement also keeps our sheep healthy by reducing parasite pressure.

Our sheep are protected from predators using electric net fencing and provided with high-quality minerals, salt, kelp meal, and sodium bicarbonate. They have regularly checked waterers and always have access to shade and shelter.

Organically Managed From Day One

Our laying hens are allowed to free range on organically managed pastures and forage to their hearts' content. In the evening, they put themselves to bed inside secure mobile coops with plenty of roosting bars, all-you-can-eat organic feed, and fresh water.

Our chickens don't just provide eggs — they also do the hardest work on the farm: sanitation. They follow our sheep around the farm, acting as a cleanup crew, and depositing rich fertilizer wherever they go.

Why Pastured Eggs?

Pastured eggs contain more vitamins and minerals than conventionally produced eggs, with the added benefit of allowing the hens producing them to participate in the behaviors that come naturally to chickens.

Our mixed flock allows us to offer colorful eggs without compromising on quality. If you're interested in eggs, please reach out and we'd love to get some in your hands!
